Environment protection is defined as a priority area of the national policy implemented in Turkmenistan. In our country, large-scale programmes for reforming the economic and social systems are closely linked to the environment, which is an indispensable condition for the well-being of people in all aspects. Innovative, resource-saving advanced technologies are being introduced in all sectors of the national economy, large scale measures are being implemented to improve the efficiency of control over the purity of air, drinking water, compliance with environmental protection requirements by industrial enterprises, factories, plants and other facilities. They are subject to mandatory environmental safety assessment. Turkmenistan takes a responsible approach to solving environmental protection issues and regularly implements programme activities in this area.

 Under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, Hero Serdar Berdimuhamedov, a lot of work is being done to improve environmental education, being one of the main areas of the education system. In accordance with the Constitution of Turkmenistan, the Laws "On Education" and "On Nature Protection", higher education institutions teach courses on ecology and environment protection of the country. To educate young people, it is important to hold festive events such as World Environment Day, World Health Day, educational consultations on nature protection in the country, as well as annual tree-planting campaigns. On March 16, 2024, the spring treeplanting campaign started in the country with the participation of the Esteemed President. As you know, in accordance with the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan, this year it was decided to plant 3 million different trees throughout the country. Mass greening ceremony of our capital took place near the Magtymguly Pyragy Cultural and Park Complex which is under construction. More than 15 thousand residents of Ashgabat took part in this event, who planted 11 thousand 595 trees and 12 thousand 500 shade trees. 1,400 residents of Arkadag city, equipped with "green" technologies, declared a national labour holiday to make this place more comfortable. 4 thousand 180 seedlings were planted on 10 hectares between the buildings of Polatly and Akhan, a special place was allocated for species that will contribute to the improvement of the ecological state of the city. In Ahal velayat, in Bereketli Zaman village of Ak Bugday etrap, 4 thousand seedlings of garden plants were planted on 10 hectares of the specially selected site. In the nationwide labour holiday in Balkan velayat, 42 thousand 116 people took part, who planted 41 thousand 372 trees. In Dashoguz velayat, 4 thousand fruit and coniferous trees were planted on an area of 10 hectares, and in total, 68 thousand seedlings were planted within velayat with participation of more than 30 thousand people. In Lebap velayat, more than 1000 people planted 4000 different trees on 10 hectares of land, showing a wonderful example of love for nature and noble work. Nationwide greening campaign also covered the entire territory of Mary velayat. 17 thousand 75 workers from all over the region took part in the main work on planting garden seedlings, and 57 thousand 475 people took care of growing trees. These noble deeds, which are carried out in turning our country into the blooming garden, are also a condition for the safe protection of the environment and nature for future generations. Research related to ensuring ecological well-being, environmental cleanness in the country and consequences of climate change, as well as the development of environmentally friendly waste-free technologies are carried out in the International Scientific and Technological Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. Currently, laboratory scientists are testing water, soil and air, developing technologies for the production of environmentally friendly fertilizers for agriculture and preparing environmental passports for manufacturing enterprises. Environmental policy pursued in our country is highly appreciated by the world community.

 Positive experience has been accumulated for each of the activities implemented in such areas as climate change, protection of land and water resources, conservation of biological diversity, combating desertification, protecting the purity of the Caspian Sea. Large-scale environmental projects are being implemented, and activities to improve the ecological state of the environment are carried out on the regular basis, which is important for all mankind. Promoting the solution of important issues related to environment protection, our country holds many events together with international organizations around the world. Achieving harmony between man and nature is the main goal of the environmental policy of our country.
