Discussed development and preparation of the Caspian Sea conservation project
29On August 13, 2024, at the conference hall of the Hasyl Hotel in Avaza National Tourism Zone, funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and by the World Bank and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), Integrated Management of the Caspian Sea Environment in Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan A round table meeting was held to discuss the development of the planned project.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, the Caspian Sea Institute, as well as the World Bank, UNEP, FAO and Security and Cooperation in Europe participated in the round table meeting. leaders and representatives of the organization participated.
During the event, the representatives of the World Bank and UNEP introduced the tasks and goals of the planned project and exchanged views on the priorities of the national policy on the protection of the Caspian Sea and its natural resources.
In addition, during the event, representatives of the Caspian State Nature Reserve of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and the Caspian Environmental Monitoring Service were heard.
It was noted that the meeting with the participation of the representatives of Turkmenistan, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Kazakhstan is planned to be held in October of this year to discuss the project being developed.
