Today, the Caspian Sea Day was celebrated in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.

As is known, the decision to celebrate the Caspian Sea Day was made by the Caspian countries (the Russian Federation, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan) at the first meeting of the Tehran Convention held in Baku in May 2007. . On August 12, 2006, the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea entered into force. The Tehran Convention is aimed at preserving, restoring and protecting the marine environment of the Caspian. The tasks set are based on a number of recognized international principles of nature conservation, in particular, the planned use of the biological resources of the Caspian Sea, environmental impact assessment and monitoring.

Under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan is an active participant in international cooperation in this area, working to deepen positive relations with all interested partners, aimed primarily at ensuring sustainable development and protection of the marine environment of the Caspian Sea within the framework of the United Partnership. Nations.

The Caspian Sea is the world's largest inland water body originating in the ocean. It has preserved its amazing beauty and diversity of natural corners, rich flora and fauna to this day. Many species of flora and fauna of the Caspian Sea are endemic and constitute a valuable gene pool of biological diversity of the region. This is the habitat of flora and fauna, including many rare and unique species listed in the Red Book of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Based on state environmental programs and projects initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and currently successfully implemented under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, aimed at the well-being of the peoples living in the Caspian region, including all the peoples of the world, more precisely, the preservation and enhancement of the resources of the unique water space, the environment, the purpose of caring for their well-being. The events of this time have become another vivid expression of the success of the environmental policy of our country.

As part of the holiday, scientific and practical consultations, exhibitions, competitions in various sports were held. The scientific and practical conference "Caspian Sea: Cooperation for Sustainable Development" was organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and the Caspian Sea Institute with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Berkarar Hotel of the Avaza National Tourist Zone.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, heads of relevant ministries and departmental management bodies, experts and representatives of the scientific community. Among the guests were diplomatic missions of the Caspian states, Turkey, Georgia, Romania, Great Britain, Tajikistan, representatives of prestigious international and regional organizations, including the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator, the Development Program, the Environment Program, Security and Cooperation. In Europe, there are representatives of the Ashgabat center of the organization, the Fisheries and Aquaculture Commission in Central Asia and the Caucasus of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the World Bank, the International Institute of the Law of the Sea, the International Ocean Institute and others.

An exhibition was held on the balcony of the hotel, demonstrating the natural beauty of the Caspian Sea and the country's achievements in the field of nature conservation.

With great attention, they listened to the Congratulations of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the participants of the scientific and practical conference "Caspian Sea: Cooperation for Sustainable Development". At the meeting, it was noted that, based on the policy of positive neutrality, Turkmenistan continues its efforts to turn the Caspian Sea into a sea of ​​peace, trust and friendship. Our country is committed to developing close cooperation between the Caspian states in the energy, transport and logistics, industrial and trade sectors. The tasks of preserving the Caspian environment and ensuring environmental well-being in the region are always in the spotlight as an important area of ​​cooperation between the five countries. The Caspian Sea and its environment are a unique natural complex sensitive to various threats, including threats related to climate change. Turkmenistan, which takes initiatives to effectively address global environmental issues, including the Caspian Sea, for the benefit of current and future generations, has a national and common interest in this area.
