During the prosperity of the state, environmental and nature protection issues became one of the main directions of the state policy of the country.
As it is known, the planned use of natural resources and protection of the environment is an indispensable condition for the socio-economic development of society. In today's environment, all segments of the population are increasingly interested in improving the state of the environment, in orderly use and restoration of natural resources. In 1972, the United Nations Environment Conference in Stockholm declared June 5 as the World Environment Day. At that meeting, for the first time in human history, issues related to nature were recognized as issues of global importance. Since then, World Environment Day has become the most important holiday in the ecological calendar and is celebrated in more than 150 countries around the world.
By the special decree of the President of Turkmenistan, June 5 of every year has been declared a national holiday in our country.
Broad paths have been opened for the economic and social development of an independent, eternally neutral state, and for the spiritual and cultural revival of our society. The President always focuses on the issues of protecting nature, public health, biological diversity, regular use of land and water resources, and ensuring environmental safety. Ensuring that the Turkmen people live in a clean environment, and the systematic use of our natural resources is the main goal of the state environmental policy in the country. In the framework of large-scale programs in Turkmenistan, the formation of forest zones around our capital Ashgabat and in the provinces, the creation of the national tourism zone "Avaza" on the vast Caspian coast, the construction of the Turkmen lake "Altyn Asyr" in the Karakum Mountains, and the adoption of important decisions to ensure environmental security in the country. it is a clear proof that the issue of environmental protection is given great importance at the national level.
Modern plans of the honorable President to turn Turkmenistan into a wilderness are being successfully implemented. A large-scale forest-park zone has been created in the foothills of Kopetdag. A number of drinking water treatment plants were put into operation in Ashgabat and provinces.
By joining several conventions and international agreements of the United Nations on environmental protection, Turkmenistan continuously contributes to solving the problems of the world community on sustainable development in this field. Within the framework of the United Nations Climate Change, Combating Desertification, Biodiversity and other international conventions and agreements, important programs are successfully implemented in the country to solve urgent environmental problems. The report of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere is kept in the country.
Modern, ecologically more advanced technologies are continuously introduced into various sectors of the national economy. Particular attention is paid to the development of relevant innovative technologies related to the use of renewable energy sources and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
In the era of globalization, it is characteristic to strengthen the humanization of nature protection, where the quality of the environment is first of all promoted as a prerequisite for human life and health. From this point of view, another important principle in the system of environmental protection and systematic use of natural resources is revealed, that is, the principle of ensuring citizens' right to environmental amenities. This principle is enshrined in the Constitution of Turkmenistan, the Constitutional Law on the Independence and Fundamentals of the State Structure of Turkmenistan, the Laws of Turkmenistan on Nature Protection, Atmospheric Climate Protection, State Environmental Expertise, Flora, Fauna, Specially Protected Natural Areas, Hydrocarbon Resources, Land , are enshrined in water, forestry, sanitation codes and other regulatory legislation. Based on this principle, the main goal of Turkmenistan's environmental policy is the interests of current and future generations.
Thus, the implementation of the ecological policy of Turkmenistan is aimed at protecting the environment in harmony with the international norms of the national legislation, developing the sectors of the economy in an ecologically safe manner, and ensuring the sustainable development of the society.
