A meeting was held with representatives of the UN-Habitat Programme
126On January 20, 2025, a meeting took place at the building of Agricultural Complex of Turkmenistan, led by Minister of Environment Charygeldi Babaniyazov, with representatives of the UN-Habitat Programme.
During the meeting, the opportunities for expanding cooperation between Turkmenistan and UN-Habitat in the fields of environmental protection and sustainable urban development were thoroughly discussed. Special attention was given to projects being developed for climate change adaptation in the Caspian region. It was emphasized that close collaboration is ongoing with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) in this regard.
The successful implementation of advanced urban planning practices in Ashgabat and Arkadag cities was highlighted with satisfaction. It was noted that these initiatives are aligned with sustainable development goals and play a key role in enhancing the ecological sustainability of Turkmen cities. This cooperation is of great significance for ensuring the country's sustainable development in the economic, environmental, and social sectors.
